Anesthesia & Surgery
Anesthesia and anesthesia monitoring is of the utmost importance to us. We take great pride in the level of care we offer. We provide the safest and very best anesthetic medications available. Our protocols are constantly evaluated and kept up to date, and each patient receives a protocol best suited to their particular needs.
While your pet is under anesthesia, our trained technical staff will constantly monitor your pet. Our monitoring parameters include blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate, electrocardiograph, temperature, jaw tone, gum color, oxygenation level, and direct listening of the heart and lung character.
Through close monitoring, we can intervene immediately if a problem should arise. We strongly recommend pre-anesthetic blood work for any procedure to ensure we have as much information as possible to provide the best anesthesia for your pet. Intravenous fluids are also highly recommended for any general anesthetic as they help to maintain blood pressure and hydration throughout the procedure. Pain management is an area that is of high importance when dealing with surgical procedures. We pride ourselves on quality pain management.
We are also very proud of our exemplary record with general anesthetics and have particular experience with older pets.
Surgical Services
It is never something pet owners like to deal with, but should your pet ever need an operation, we have high-quality surgical services, including soft tissue surgery and orthopedic surgery.
Soft Tissue Surgery
Our veterinarians are experienced in all types of soft tissue surgery. In addition, our vets attend regular continuing education to ensure they are up to date with the latest techniques.
We can perform procedures including but not limited to surgery for spay/neuter, mass removals, bladder stone removals, stomach/intestinal foreign bodies and masses, anal gland removal, perineal urethrostomies, splenectomies, eye procedures, brachycephalic airway procedures, biopsies, and exploratory procedures.
Orthopedic
Dr. Silver is certified to perform both TPLO and FHO procedures, and we also work closely with local mobile specialist surgeons who can perform orthopedic surgeries. They include repairs to injured knee ligaments and kneecaps (patellas), fracture repairs, and hip surgery.
As mentioned previously, we pride ourselves on our top-quality pain management. This ensures your pet has the highest level of care and comfort when in our hands.
