Hi there! My name is Sam Castle-Scott, the Senior Director - Human Resources for our VetnCare Community. I’m Northern California born and raised, growing up in Santa Cruz before making my pilgrimage to San Francisco and ultimately the East Bay.
I’ve worked in Human Resources for my entire career, from payroll processing to senior leadership. My most impactful work has always been possible as part of a close-knit team supporting a mission-driven organization, from nutrition services for the sick and vulnerable with Project Open Hand to more recently, leading and scaling the HR function for SAGE Veterinary Centers in the emergency and specialty veterinary space. The chance to continue to help talented, passionate, and empathetic professionals do exceptional things is exactly why I joined up with VetnCare. Our mission and values are excellent compass points as we navigate the complex and important work ahead.
On a personal note, my wife, daughter, and I share our sunny home and yard with our sweet Pit Bull named Rover and our lovely old grump of a cat named Squirrelbait. In terms of hobbies and interests, I’m hopelessly addicted to Brazilian jiu-jitsu and train religiously with a diverse and welcoming group of killers at our gym in Hayward (reach out if you want to come by!). I love/need decent coffee, being near the ocean or in the woods recharges me, and I cherish my small but mighty group of family and friends.
