Meet our new Veterinarian: Dr. Rebekah Zahedi

August 8, 2017
hello world!

I was born and raised just outside of Atlanta, Georgia and realized my love of animals early - at the age of six, I proudly announced that I wanted to become a veterinarian. After working at a small animal clinic in high school and shadowing as an undergraduate, I knew this field was for me, and my dream was fulfilled in May of 2016 when I completed my veterinary studies with honors at the University of Georgia.

Before attending veterinary school, I spent six months working as an ecology and natural history expert in the cloud forests of Costa Rica. While there, I met my husband Cameron, who was studying abroad as a UGA graduate student. We got married in June of 2016 and made the cross-country move from Georgia to California a week later. Although you’ll probably still catch me saying “y’all” and drinking sweet tea, the Bay Area has quickly become home for us - we love it here!

After moving to California, I conducted neuroscience and aging research as part of a one-year fellowship at UC Berkeley. Research is a passion of mine, so I’m always excited to bring my love of investigation and problem-solving to difficult clinical cases. I also really enjoy connecting with clients and getting to know their stories so we can work together to ensure optimal health for their furry loved ones. Some of my clinical special interests include internal medicine, neurology, geriatrics, and nutrition.

My husband and I have four wonderful fur-kids: our perfect lab mix, Lucy; mostly-naughty cat, Link; spoiled-rotten kitten, Rosalie; and the rambunctious but sweet-as-honey basset hound pup, Delilah. When not relaxing at home with my family, I enjoy cooking, hiking and camping, painting, traveling, and learning languages (I speak Spanish and am currently working on Farsi and French).

I am delighted to work with the excellent staff in Napa and to be part of the Alley Cat and California family!

You can meet Dr. Zahedi at both Alley Cat Small Animal Hospital and California Pet Hospital! Call us now to make an appointment to see her today!   Alley Cat: (707) 224-2525  |  California Pet: (707) 255-6832
